| Our
Origins Dating back to 1899, St. John's has grown through many changes. We have sought to be faithful to God's call to minister in our community throughout our history. The United Church of Christ was formed in 1957 by a merger of the Congregational Christian and the Evangelical and Reformed Churches. We are now a fellowship of over 6,000 congregations and nearly 1.3 million members. Our Wider ChurchSt. John's is a member of the Northwest Association of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ. Our Conference offers opportunities for service in the larger church as well as providing retreat and other spiritual growth activities including summer camp options for all ages. We work in partnership also with local community organizations to show Christ's love to those in need. Some examples of our outreach include: St. Jude's House, Habitat for Humanity, Contact Cares/Crisis Center and Meals on Wheels. We support many outreach programs further from home through Our Church's Wider Mission. We, along with partner Churches, share our Christian witness in many ways! |
